You're the DJ: what are the next five songs coming up after the break?
I'll take a break from my alphabet...for a second. I've gotten fed up with my choice of live NPR at work, so I started surfing around the web radio stations. I'm in love now with Virgin Radio from the UK. Aside from being just all-around cool and British, I'm reliving the semester I spent in London with live traffic reports and commercials. And getting into the Brit music scene!
Yay! Good music!!
So here's my pick for the next 5 songs:
- Mr. Rock & Roll - Amy MacDonald
- Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John
- 1973 - James Blunt
- Suburban Knights - Hard-Fi
- The Angry Mob - Kaiser Chiefs
Definitely all worth a download!
What do you enjoy most about summer?
Submitted by Alex.
I enjoy most when it's over. Hence we left the eternal summer of Vegas.
Actually, I enjoy summer in moderation... I much prefer the 70's and 80's of the summer, and I can handle a little bit of humidity. If the temps are in moderation, I do actually like to get out and do stuff. Temps here haven't been too bad, so Ethan's had the opportunity to get out and about, and he loves playing outside. I spent most of my youth outside, so I like encouraging that with Ethan.
Speaking of...I need to check the weather for the upcoming days. Today, we're going to Boston, tomorrow we're changing storage units, and either Monday or Wednesday, we're going to go for a picnic at the DeCordova Sculpture Garden. (Depending on if Jeremy wants to go or not...it's free both days.)
What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
In keeping with this being my last weekend in Las Vegas, and looking for things that are more readily available here (or only available here), my favoritest flavor of ice cream is Cold Stone Creamery's Cake Batter with cookie dough mixed in. Mmmmmmmm.... If only the local Cold Stone wasn't staffed by the evil moron girl who apparently hates me.
They do have Cold Stone in Boston, but it would require a special trip...as opposed to running down to the end of the block.
One thing they don't have (I think...haven't checked) is Chipotle. So, since Jeremy wasn't hungry, and Ethan just wanted chips, that's what I did for lunch. Yummy! I'll miss burritos. And actual Mexican food. I like that stuff, now that I've actually had real (or real-er) Mexican.
ETA: Oh, wait...there is a Chipotle! In Medford, however, which is still a trip. But at least I know now, just in case I have that fajita burrito craving!
What do you always forget to pack?
Submitted by quornflour.
This is chronic for me...and an ongoing source of frustration every time I pack. Even if I make a list, I'll always forget something. The pain in the butt thing is that it's something different each time, so by the time I start figuring out exactly what it is I forgot last time, it'll be something different this time. Commonly I'll forget my pajamas, contact solution, or underwear. (For me, this past time was socks...but it wasn't much of an issue since I hardly ever wear them anyway.)
I have been improving with my stuff since I've been travelling more with my husband. Only now, I've started forgetting things for Ethan. *facepalm* This past trip, it was sippy cups. Luckily, my mom had one at her house that we commandeered and used the entire trip. XP Not my favorite arrangement, but that's okay.
Also on the bright side, we've been doing vacations to visit family and such, so either they'll have them, or we know where the nearest Target is to pick them up. :)
What are you going to do with your tax return?
Submitted by KB.
It's going to pay for half of our camera. A new, REAL camera. (Not that our camera isn't real now, but...) Hopefully, we were going to get back out regular amount, which would have paid for the whole camera, and maybe an accessory or two, but now we'll have a start.
And, if anyone needs to buy us a present in the future, there's a whole list of accessories we can get!
Who's going to be in the Final Four?
Crud...I'm so bad at this. Did UNLV win their game last night? If so, I'll say them.
On a side note, I was never really into basketball until I was in high school/college (can't remember which year), and UConn started becoming amazing. I used to live right down the road from them, and the whole state went NUTZ over them when they made it into the tournament, then more so the further they went. It was amazing. I still can't listen to the song "What I Like About You" correctly, as the radio stations all started playing a version called "What I Like About UConn" with the coaches and players in there. Like I said, NUTZ.
This year, since I'm in Vegas, I've been a bit in the middle of Rebel Fever, as people have been caught up in the fact that they won their championship, they made it into the Big Dance, and OMG, they won the first two games. Though, I will say, people here are not quite as NUTZ as Connecticut was. Of course, Vegas is HUGE, and is mostly a transient population that could care less about the community. So things here are nuts. As I said, I don't even know who won last night. They were doing pretty good at half time though...
At any rate, I also feel bad...when is the women's tournament? Is UConn in that? Because, really, I did enjoy that bracket better.
Which household chores do you most/least enjoy?

Totally meant to answer this yesterday...
I don't particularly like cleaning the litterbox. I'm not overly fond of cleaning in general...most of the time...but when I get into that mood where I just get fed up with things not being in the right place, or I can't find something, I go into a cleaning frenzy. Only I'm incredibly anal retentive, especially when it comes to cleaning and organizing, so if you're not going to do something exactly how I tell you, please don't try and help. I'm trying to get better with this...so I'll give you those tasks that are pretty hard to mess up. Like dishes.
On a side note, is anyone else having problems posting to Vox? It won't work at all on my computer... I wasn't sure if it was Firefox, but I'm using it on the PC and it works fine. So I guess it's the Mac?
What method do you use to prepare your coffee or tea?
Submitted by AgentBouche.
Well, this first part is imperative: Someone else makes the coffee for me. The more I make my own coffee, the more I realize I need someone else to make it for me. Or at least someone who works at Dunkin' Donuts needs to tell me how they make their iced coffee. 'Cause it's good.
After the coffee is made, I put in extra sugar. Well, nowadays, it's Splenda, but same difference. Then extra cream or 2% milk. I don't do dairy a whole lot, so I don't worry too much about the extra fat. Besides, it makes my coffee creamy yummy. I used to do flavored creamer, but not since I started going with real milk. And not the powdered stuff.
And not after noon. Unless I'm doing orientation. But seriously, no caffeine after noon. Nowadays I can't sleep if I do it.
Oh, and I totally wanted to do the macro photography hunt today, but I totally need a new camera. Which I totally want to get with my tax refund. (And I totally should have accosted the photo guy in the hall today with my camera list...only it's at home.)
Okay, we hate to ask, but... over the roll or under the roll?
Over over over over over over OVER!!!!
I feel strongly about this one, okay? :)
How are you ringing in the New Year tonight?
I didn't mean to, but I did wind up watching the New Year's festivities on the Strip. Okay, let's backtrack...
I hate spending New Year's on the West Coast. Growing up, we would always go to our friends' house with a couple other families, hang out, play pool, watch movies, and watch the ball drop in Time's Square at midnight. So, for me, the new year comes when the ball drops. So, being on the West Coast, the ball drops at 9:00...and is quite anti-climactic. Bah.
Jeremy was working the overnight shift last night, so he took over my computer at 7:00. I spent most of my time finding a Seinfeld marathon, taking breaks to watch the ball drop, and playing with my Nintendo. About 11:30 or so, I realized I was incredibly tired, and would have to get up with Ethan in the morning. I got distracted checking e-mail and journals, and suddenly, it was 11:55. It seemed kind of pointless to go to bed with 5 minutes left, so I looked out the window at the valley, and watched the fireworks on the Strip.
It was interesting...about 5 or 6 points on the main drag were setting off fireworks in unison, which was cool. Oh, and the Stratosphere set them off too...though not with the main display. I will say, I thought the Strat's display was cooler, as they were set off from the top, and without much in the way of altitude, so it looked like the top was exploding. Though, truth to be said, it actually looked like the whole Strip was exploding, which was disturbing and not at the same time.
